Trauma: understanding the care pathway

For an injured person, the care journey may involve first aid, transport, a local assessment and transfer to another facility. Research can help map these steps before anyone claims to have a solution. A potential CMC project could document the first point of contact, travel time, referral reasons, gaps in information and the experience of families navigating the pathway.

A good study would define which types of injuries are in scope and which facilities can safely participate. It would specify how records are collected without interrupting care, how information is protected, and how findings will be returned to local stakeholders. Any future intervention should follow evidence about the actual bottleneck.
