Stroke: recognition, pathways and recovery

Stroke outcomes depend on events across a journey: recognizing symptoms, reaching appropriate assessment, obtaining timely referral, and receiving support after discharge. Research can describe where delays occur and whose needs may be overlooked.

Our research partner WeCASOR publicly describes network studies on stroke care pathways, rehabilitation access, and communication and trust. Its broader framework considers standardized outcomes and follow-up. At CMC, a future locally approved project might ask how people in and around Bamenda recognize symptoms, seek help, and navigate referrals or rehabilitation after acute care elsewhere. The question, data collection and site role would be set out in a separate protocol.
