Malaria is spread by bites of infected mosquitoes and remains a significant health concern in Cameroon. Fever, headache, and chills can occur, but these symptoms have other possible causes. Seek prompt assessment and testing rather than assuming malaria.
Sleep under an insecticide-treated mosquito net where malaria is present. Screens, protective clothing, and appropriate repellents can also reduce bites. Young children and pregnant people face higher risk of severe disease.
Confusion, convulsions, difficulty breathing, or extreme weakness need emergency care.
